If you were in Harry's shoes – an 11-year-old kid who probably never heard anyone utter the word 'magic', and one day you meet this giant person who tells you that yer a wizard, would you have believed him?

Even if I weren't in Harry's shoes, even if I was simply a muggle-born kid who turned out to be a wizard, but I had no information about the wizarding world, I don't think I would have believed anyone who claimed it to be true. And I most certainly would not have agreed to leave my parents for 10 months to go to a school in an unknown location, and honestly? I don't think my parents would have let me go either.

That is why I consider every single one of the first-year muggle-born students in Hogwarts to be incredibly brave, regardless of whether they end up being in Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, or Slytherin.
